Dedicated to reducing suicide statistics and bullying through education and awareness. Helping to ward off depression through our valuable programs.
The JD Foundation believes that education is the FIRST KEY to prevention. We have established programs for students, families, caregivers of veterans. We use NAMI Maines Suicide Awareness Program for adults as it is compliant with the State of Maine law LD609. Our Project Prevent for students focuses on suicide prevention and anti-bullying.
Our intention is to give others tools so they will recognize warning signs and know where to get the appropriate help as soon as possible. To help those who seek our support through our connecting with nature and TIR/LSR programs.
The JD Foundation was established in October of 2008 and is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization.
CHERYL MORIN, CEO / ACTING PRESIDENT
Cheryl has held these positions for 9 years. Cheryl as well as co-founded the organization. She has trained through Maine Suicide Prevention Programs to become a trainer and compliant with the LD609 law. Cheryl is also trained as a facilitator in Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) and Life Stress Reduction (LSR), life couching, and goal planning. She is a wife and mother of three children.
VICTOR MORIN, VICE PRESIDENT
Co-Founder and Vice-President of the JD Foundation for 9 years, Vic is also a registered Maine Guide and Director of our Connecting with Nature program. His many years spent learning the secrets of nature makes him the perfect director to lead clients on walks, hikes, kayaking, and more. He shares his knowledge of all of the surroundings.
LUCY JOHNSTON, SECRETARY
Retied from many years at Camden National Bank. Lucy is an avid runner, hiker, and outdoor advocate. She is a volunteer for Avian Haven and loves animals.
TAMMY BREEN, TREASURER
Has over 20 years experience as an officer manager. Tammy loves hiking, kayaking and camping in a seasons. She is a proud mother of two Eagle Scouts.
BARBARA CHASE, LCSW
Is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Level II EMDR Therapist who works to help people overcome trauma. She is also interested in helping with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, loss, and life transitions.
